I don’t enjoy days where it rains all day but perhaps it has just been the cross country gods making sure that there was enough water in the river crossing at Benyons Enclosure today… the first of seven confirmed fixtures in this years Southern League!! We were off to a good start, fielding full ladies and men’s teams today whoop!
Benyons is a lovely course with the added touch of some fabulous sunshine and a little bit of head wind here and there to keep things interesting. It is a mixture of gravel fire roads with some technical rooty sections through the woods and a few hills to keep us on our toes. Brilliant performances from everyone. Ladies scorers – me [Helen Straker], Lynne Rashleigh, Katherine Stanton and Caroline Dobbin. Men’s scorers – Dominic Wake, Clint Lovell, Dan Parr and James Rashleigh. Thanks too to John Gray, an ever present and brilliant soul, running strong to round off the HRR contingent.
Always brilliant to have new faces along to XC – Katherine and Clint trying their first cross country events for HRR today, we hope to see you back for more. Special thanks to Katherine and Caroline who might have chosen a different looking Sunday morning but stepped up to make sure we had a full ladies team, we are very grateful, and maybe you accidentally enjoyed yourselves too!
Next fixture is 22 November at Alice Holt – be there or be…. dry, clean and boring!!!! Hope to see as many of you there as can make it!
